Mt Sinai's Hammer Lab has used, and developed, a variety of tools for analyzing genomic data on Spark and Hadoop. Ryan will discuss unique challenges such data present, discuss present and future data-intensive problems in genomics, and reflect on Spark's and the Hadoop ecosystem's applicability to such problems.
Ryan Williams is a software engineer at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. In previous roles as a software engineer for Google ad Foursquare he worked to develop third-party widgets and more. As Chief Technology Office for Celeris Financial, he was instrumental in building an ultra-low latency foreign-exchange trading platform which was used to trade billions of U.S dollars on a daily basis.
